Besides the beautiful Long Eliza's depicted in cartouches on the tea caddy we can find some flowering plant in a jardinièr. This is most likely the peony. The peony is a visual shorthand for wealth, prestige, and cultivated beauty—perfectly aligning with the era’s emphasis on scholarly identity and elite status.
The base is marked with an Artemisia leaf (艾叶), or mugwort, has also long been used in Chinese culture for medicine, ritual practices, and protection against illness and evil. Because of these qualities, it became a symbol of health, longevity, and good fortune. During the reign of the Kangxi Emperor, the artemisia leaf was often used as a decorative mark on porcelain. Instead of naming the emperor, it conveyed auspicious meaning and cultural refinement.
Condition: perfect.
