A very fine and colorfull plate depicting a scene of 'San Niang Jiao Zi' (or 'Sanniang teaches her son'). The Long Elizas with playing boys are located in a garden representing a cultured and luxurious lifestyle. One boy is hiding himself behind a woman and the other boy is holding a scroll.
The position of the women and boys together with the scroll indicates a scene from the story of a young widow who is left alone with only her son and an elderly servant. To support their living and education of the child she must work at her loom. One day her son grew lazy and did not want finish his homework. To demonstrate his error the widow cut her unfinished cloth from the loom.

The plate is fully decorated in overglaze colors. The border around the center is done in overglaze gold and the motif is called 'servetwerk' in Dutch, freely translated 'napkin work'.
