This earthenware plate is a copy of the famous kraak-porcelain known from the Wanli period (1573-1620). The border is divided in eight panels with the four times the sunflower motif and four times different decorations of the eight precious objects. For example we can see two times the artemisia leaf standing for health. The middle of the plate has a star shaped center depicting a cache-pot with flowering peony and pomegranates in it, which is the symbol of good posterity and luck.
If this plate was a real Chinese version, it could be dated between 1595 and 1620 due to the division of the border. This Delfts version was made around 1690
